"Stand Back" by Stevie Nicks

Another favorite of the eighties!  Weird, another song I remember listening to while working on a car.  I was fixing something on the transmission of my Monte Carlo in the parking lot at Unisys.  It was funny that for years you could see the trail of transmission fluid from Redwood Road to the Unisys parking lot.

"Big Iron" by Marty Robbins

I know this seems like a very weird song to have on someones "Records 2 Die 4" list, but for some reason I just love this song.  This song also always reminds me of Randy U., one of my best friends in High School.  If I remember correctly he was recording a bunch of Marty Robbins onto 8-track tape cartridges for someone.  That was always a bitch trying to get the songs to fit on the track so there wasn't a huge silence until the track change.

"The New Green Light" by Hank Thompson

This song is a little unusual in that it is a revision of the song, in today's parlance it is "Green Light v2.0".  I have included a photo of the original 78.

"Ruby Ann" by Marty Robbins

Rachel update 7-Sep-2018: I was searching for a karaoke version of this song and found a video playing the 45 on an old record player.  I love it! Also added a selfie I took when I was in Ogden on 13-Nov-2017.

Original Post:

I haven't posted many country songs to date, so I think I will take care of that now.  One of my favorites since childhood, I still remember playing the 45 of this song.

"Mandela Day" by Simple Minds

This probably seems like a weird song to have on my favorites list, but I just love it when it pops up on KCQN Utah.  There is a web page for Mandela Day too: http://www.mandeladay.com/.

"I Want You (She's So Heavy)" by The Beatles

I have a weird association for this song.  For a while after (high) school I worked at Weber State College running the VTR (Video Tape Recorder), taping student teachers presentations.  (It was a Sony VTR that recorded on1/2 inch tape, possibly something like the one pictured here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EIAJ-1)  The first time I remember taking notice of this song was during a break, we were discussed the Abbey Road album and this song.

"Strange Kind of Woman" by Deep Purple

This is my favorite Deep Purple song.  It always reminds me of a girlfriend I had in high school named Nancy, even though she had nothing in common with the Nancy in the song.  I remember playing this song for her, probably a bad idea.  I hope she knows that I didn't mean anything by it, I just liked the song.

"Dirty Laundry" by Don Henley

Another favorite of the 80's.  I remember playing this song to test a car stereo that I had just installed.  Laying in the truck tightening the speakers while this played.

"House at Pooh Corner" by Loggins & Messina

I remember my 4th grade teacher reading a chapter of a Pooh book to us every day, I just loved it.  Hard to believe that was almost 50 years ago.  I still love Winnie the Pooh to this day.

"Brilliant Disguise" by Bruce Springsteen

This is the third song that I loved from the Tunnel of Love album, which was ranked by Rolling Stone as #25 in the top 100 albums of the 80's.

"One Step Up" by Bruce Springsteen

Another great song from the same album as yesterday's song.  I love the old Ford in the video.

Woke up this mornin' the house was cold
Checked the furnace, she wasn't burning
Went out and hopped in my old Ford
Hit the engine but she ain't turnin'"

"Tunnel of Love" by Bruce Springsteen

Just a great song.  "You've got to learn to live with what you can't rise above"

Note: the only official video I could find had to be tilted so it didn't get removed.
