"Get Out of London" by Intaferon

On the record they took the spaces out of the title so it was GETOUTOFLONDON.  This is one of Stacee's Top 5 Favorites on KCQN Utah today and it reminded me that this song is one of my top favorites.

Bonus track: not a top favorite of mine, but a song I really like is "Steamhammer Sam" also by Intaferon:

"Christmas Song" by the Chipmunks

I think this might have been the song I was thinking of posting on Christmas and then forgot.  My memory just sucks and it seems worse lately.  I did one of the most annoying things yet: I was playing a record on Christmas and forgot to stop it when it was over.  Discovered today it was still tracking in the inner (or run-out) groove.  It appeared to have actually worn out the inner groove as there were flakes of vinyl all around the inner groove (see photo below).

"A Christmas Song" by Jethro Tull

Always thought this was a fun Christmas song.  I had no idea that Jethro Tull came out with a Christmas album a few years ago.  It has a longer version of this song.  The original version is from the Living in the Past album.

"Love, Peace & Happiness" by The Chambers Brothers

I swear I had a Christmas song picked out for today and now I can't remember what it was.  Dammed bad memory!  However, this is a good substitute.

"Merry Christmas, Darling" by Carpenters

I've decided there will always be a soft spot in my heart for this song.  I still remember when it was first released, how exciting it was to have a "new" Christmas song.

Bonus track: I heard this version by Christina Perri on the radio the other day and enjoyed it too:

"Christmas is Coming" by The Three Courgettes

I wanted to post this song last year but couldn't find it to YouTube.  Part of the problem was the artist's name was spelled wrong in KCQN Utah's database.  When I found it on this A Christmas Record I corrected the error, but I still couldn't find it on YouTube.  However I did find an MP3 of it on this http://hipchristmasmusic.com/ site.

"The Christmas Song" by Sergio Mendes and Brasil '66

I enjoy this song by many different artists, but this version from the famous "Something Festive" A&M sampler album is one of my favorites.  That album, released in 1968, has remained one of my favorite Christmas albums of all time.

"Thank You Very Much" by Scrooge Cast

This one to thank everyone that contributed to the bicycle fund!  It's from the musical version of Scrooge released around 1970.

"Brooklyn Blues" by Barry Manilow

I really don't know why people get freaky about Barry Manilow, this is just a great song.  I can listen to this over and over...

"Copacabana" by Barry Manilow

I know Barry Manilow isn't considered cool, but that doesn't stop me.  This was still a fun song.

"Old and Wise" by The Alan Parsons Project

I don't think this is the song I had originally planned for this day, but for the life of me I can't remember what it was.  So I guess this will do as a song for time passing.

"As Years Go By" by Mashmakhan

I've always thought this was a strange song, but I still enjoy hearing it.  So hard to believe it has been 43 years.

"As Time Goes By" by Harry Nilsson

For some reason I've always liked the version of this song by Nilsson.  This video is fun too.

"The Way We Were" by Barbra Streisand

I felt like another song about time going by.  I find that as one gets older the time goes by faster and faster.

"Holding Back The Years" by Simply Red

Here it is 12/12/12!  It's the last time I will ever see a date with all three numbers the same.  That has been fun every year for the past twelve years.  In 2007 I even captured a screenshot at 07:07:07 (see below).

But that started me thinking about how fast the years go by, which led me to choosing this song for today.

"40,000 Headmen" by Blood, Sweat & Tears

Here's a song that I was always fascinated by.  I didn't know for years (I didn't find out until in the 90's) that it was a Traffic song.

"Snow Queen" by Blood, Sweat & Tears

Here's a great track from the fifth BS&T album: "New Blood", with Jerry Fisher on vocals.  I had no idea that Carole King and Gerry Goffin wrote this song, until I saw it on this YouTube video.

"Sometimes in Winter" by Blood Sweat & Tears

OMG, I can't believe that I had completely forgotten about BS&T on my blog until now.  Without a doubt one of my favorite bands of the '70s.  This is one of my very favorites.  I still remember listening to this on 8-Track in my car.
