Another of my favorites from the same era as Buddy Holly.

I'm a transgender woman who has loved music for as long as she can remember. My earliest memories are of sitting or laying on the floor and listening to 45's and 78's. Music is and has been the essential part of my life. I started this blog in 2011 in an attempt to create a list of my favorite music. In April of 2015, when I started my transition to becoming Rachel, I created a new blog to continue the effort: http://rachels-vital-music.blogspot.com/

"Chantilly Lace" by The Big Bopper (J. P. Richardson)
One of the other sad deaths with Buddy Holly that night. I had never seen this before WJ sent it to me, really funny expressions.

"American Pie" by Don McLean
Thanks to WJ for reminding me today (66 years ago) is "the day the music died". Funny, this song is one that I still remember where I was when I first heard it: I had just come out of Carter's Electronic Supply on Washington Blvd. in Ogden. I sat in the parking lot in the 1963 Pontiac Catalina and listened to the entire thing.

"On the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe" by Johnny Mercer
I meant to post this song months ago and apparently forgot. I was reminded when I put the "Go With the Greats" compilation album on the turntable this morning. It was a hit in 1945, a mere 70 years ago.
