"Sound Off - No. 2 (The Duckworth Chant)" by Homer & Jethro

Had the funky MS legs thing happen again early this morning (see my Feb. 18th post).  Didn't last as long, but still plenty frightening.  It is curious that I ate cod both nights...  I thought before maybe it cooking grease might be a problem, but this time the fish was baked.

I was listening to the "Homer & Jethro Strike Back" album and enjoyed hearing this song.

"Going Nowhere Somehow" - White Town

Me at the Women's March in Las Vegas 21-Jan-2018

Rachel update 20-Apr-2018: added photo and above and some info on this White Town album:

This was a great album and everyone was talking about how it was made with an old Tascam 4-track recorder and an Atari.

"Pretty Girl Why" by Buffalo Springfield

WTF?!?!!  I cannot believe that I can't find this song on my blog.  I was absolutely, 100% certain that I already posted this song.  Is somebody deleting them??  This is such a great song, I'm sure I posted it last year when I was playing the Buffalo Springfield double album.

"Pure Love" by Ronnie Milsap

My"Best of All #86" cassette tape

This is me (now Rachel) writing this post almost 5 years in the future (7-Feb-2020) from this date.  At random, I pulled the above cassette ("Best of All #86") out of a box.  I decided I should log the songs on it as I listened to it.  This is a fun song I had forgotten about.

I loved Cap', Crunch... those were the days!  ;)

"Live For Life" by Jack Jones

I was playing the Jack Jones "Live For Life" record album this morning.  It has my favorite version of "I Can't Get Started" (6-June-2012) on it, which is also my favorite Jack Jones song.  But I was listening to "Live For Life" and thinking what a great song that is...  and good advice too.  :)

"L. A. Woman" by The Doors

It's so cool there is an official video for this song and a really great video at that.  I am also posting a link to the full album.  I consider the "L. A. Woman" album to be among the greatest albums of all time.

"Coronet Blue" by Lenny Welch

Coronet Blue is another obscure TV theme I really like, that was also on the reel-to-reel tape I mentioned Yesterday.  The strange thing is that I have two different versions on the tape.  The only one I can find on YouTube is this one by Lenny Welch.  I haven't been able to find any information about an alternate version.

"A Man In a Suitcase" by Ron Grainer and his Orchestra

I have an old reel-to-reel tape that I recorded the theme songs to many old TV shows.  I loved this theme song but could not remember what TV show it was.  One of the recordings had a voice over announcing the series premier of the "Mod Squad", so I found a list of shows that ran on ABC the summer of 1968.

"Midnight Sun" by Ella Fitzgerald

I was listening, again, to the "Go With the Greats" LP, that I mentioned in my post on 01-Feb-2015 and found some more great songs.

"Head Like a Hole" by Nine Inch Nails

I know this is a very weird transition (from Eddy Howard to Nine Inch Nails). but this is yet another glaring omission from my blog.  I was listening to the"Pretty Hate Machine" LP this morning and realized my oversight.  And lyrics so true:

God money's not looking for the cure
God money's not concerned about the sick among the pure
God money let's go dancing on the backs of the bruised

"My Last Goodbye" by Eddy Howard

How could I have forgot to post this song before?  Rickety Rickshaw Man is my favorite "fun" Eddy Howard song, this has to be my favorite serious song.

"Punish the Monkey" by Mark Knopfler

I bought Mark Knopfler's "Kill to Get Crimson" CD at a Whole Foods fund raiser for the Whole Planet Foundation.  This song jumped out at me, what a great song.

"Girl, I'm Out to Get You" by Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart

I found a record titled "Family Album" at Our Store (my new favorite little thrift store) a few days ago.   It is an A&M sampler album.  Side 1 was good, but Side 2 really grabbed me.  Especially this song, that I think is really fun.

Then I found the clip of them performing the song on the "I Dream of Jeannie" TV show.  Too funny!!

"Friday's Child" by Nancy Sinatra

Rachel Update 15-August-2016:

I originally posted "These Boots are Made for Walkin'" for this day.  But I really felt the urge to post it in Rachel's Vital Music blog, because of what I'm experiencing now.  So I've decided to allow my blogs to be more dynamic and to be able to move a song if I really feel the need.  After all this blog / list is really for myself anyway.

So I've moved "Boots" to 15-August-2016 and picked a different Nancy Sinatra song for this day.  I was just listening to the "Movin' with Nancy" album last week, while I was laying in the sun relaxing, and really enjoyed hearing this song.

It says in the comments for one of the videos that Nancy recorded two versions of this song, one for the "Movin'" album I mentioned and one for her "Nancy in London" album.

Original 6-March-2015 Post - "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'":

I saw part of a "Makers" documentary last night on PBS and they finished up with this song.  It has been a favorite ever since I first heard in on the radio almost 50 years ago.

"You Know I'm No Good" by Amy Winehouse

I was also listening to this song while I was jogging/running last night and remembered what a great song it is.  So sad about Amy Winehouse, another great artist whose life was cut short.

"Bird" by Candy Dulfer

I was listening this song (about 10 times :) tonight while I was joggin/running and it is just wonderful.  Unfortunately I can only find one video of it on YouTube and it is copyright restricted in the this country.  Sigh!!

"Light My Fire" by The Doors

I realized another glaring omission from my blog is The Doors, one of favorite bands of all time.  How could I have forgotten to post any of their songs until now?

One interesting thing about "Light My Fire" is the speed error on the original record, that they corrected on the 40th anniversary CD release.
