"Pusherman" - Curtis Mayfield

Putting the wheel hub back together
After she was put back toogether, I took CeCE to check our P.O. Box
And to Jitter Bug Coffee Hop
I'm (Rachel) filling in my old (Scott's) blog using songs from my old "favorites" cassette tapes (see my posts on March 1st and July 15th).  This song isn't actually on the cassette, it just popped up on YouTube when I was posting yesterdays song.

I'm writing this post on 15-Mar-2020.  After I fixed the CeCe (the Plymouth), I drover her to the Post Office and Jitter Bug Coffee Hop.  Bruce at Jitter Bug is my coffe "pusherman" of choice LOL

"Here I Am" by Frank Chacksfield and His Orchestra

Rachel update 14-Mar-2020:

The video I posted before is now "Not available in your country".  So annoying!!!!  I found a couple of other links.  I love this song, I didn't realize it was a Burt Bacharach song

This is track #12 on the cassette.  I'm so happy that Shazam was able to identify this song!!  I love this!!!

"I Get a Kick Out of You" by Enoch Light and the Light Brigade

See my post for 24-Jul-2013 for further explanation.

Track #10 on the cassette is an electronic number (a Theramin perhaps?) that Shazam can't identify and I can't even identify the tune.  It sounds familiar but I have never been good at figuring out significantly different versions of a tune.

This song is track #11 on the cassette and I love it!

"The Shadow of Your Smile" by Andy William (feat. Al Hirt)

See my post for 24-Jul-2013 for an explanation.

Track #4 on the cassette was "All I have to Do Is Dream" by Bobbie Gentry and  Glen Campbell.  Not a favorite of mine so I'm not going to post it.

Shazam doesn't seem to be able to identify track #5   :(

Track #6 is "My Shy Violet" by the Mills Brothers, which I posted on 7-Jun-2015.

Shazam doesn't seem to be able to identify track #7 either.  I'm going to guess Dream a Little Dream of Me by maybe Lenny Dee.

Track #8 is "The Shadow of Your Smile", I was thinking perhaps by Al Hirt but that isn't coming up on YouTube.  This version with Andy Williams vocal is very nice.

YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZEQVrhl7mk
YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DhJHBVPytdk

And this version is a very nice trumpet without the chorus the version on the cassette has.

"Ground Hog" by Duke Pearson

Rachel Update 18-Mar-2020: corrected the grammar in one spot.

It's a freaking "Christmas in July" Miracle!!!

Wait, let's back up for a minute.  I'm actually writing this post (as Rachel) on 24-Dec-2017.  I was making a Christmas CD today as a gift and then I decided to combine it with a copy of the "Rachel's Happy New Year 2015" CD I made for Christmas in 2014.

Note: Some of the CD's were labeled "Scott's Happy New Year 2015" because I hadn't come out yet.  That was still a few months out...

Anyway, then I thought I should replace one song ("It Was a Very Good Year" by The Brothers Four because I later realized it was pretty misogynistic.  I had made a note about putting the song "Walking Happy" on a second disc.

That brought me to the fact that I never figured out who did the version on the cassette I where I originally heard it.  So I started playing one of those old cassettes (labeled "Easy Listening #2") to see if I could find that original version.

Just for grins I thought I would try Shazam and see if it could identify any of the songs.  Lo and behold it has identified several.  In the past it was only able to identify the well know songs.

So I've decided to list the songs on this old cassette that Shazam can identify.

The first track on side 1 is: "That's the Stuff You Gotta Watch" by Mose Allison (see my post from 5-Aug-2011)

And this song is track 2:

"Wives and Lovers" (1965 version) by Burt Bacharach

Wendy got me this shirt (in March 2020) to support MS

Got the wheel bearing races out of the Plymouth's hub

I'm (Rachel) filling in my old (Scott's) blog using songs from my old "favorites" cassette tapes (see my posts on March 1st and July 15th).  This song is Side 1, Track 7 on my Best of All #11 cassette.

I love this tune but the lyrics are so misogynistic.  I mentioned when I posted the Jack Jones version in my Rachel's blog, that I want to rewrite the lyrics.  The idea hit me today, what if I changed the lyrics to reverse all the gender references: "hey little boy, comb your hair, fix your makeup...".  I don't know.  How about "just because there's a ring in your nose"... LOL

This is the version on Kapp records, released as a single in 1965 and then on the 1969 "Burt Bacharach Plays His Hits" on Kapp Records.  The one with the sexy girl on the cover ;)

My balance has been very wonky lately.  I fell over today (in March 2020)

And pulled a bunch of stuff over with me, including some reel-to-reel tapes

"Acapulco 1922" by Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass"

Some oil or something got in the brown stripe and it bubbled up
I'm (Rachel) filling in my old (Scott's) blog using songs from my old "favorites" cassette tapes (see my posts on March 1st and July 15th).  This song is Side 2, Track 6 on my Best of All #11 cassette.  This has always been one of my favorite Tijuana Brass songs.

I'm painting a Philly Pride Flag on the hood of the Plymouth.  I don't know what I did, got oil or something on it, but there were spots all over in that stripe where the paint had wrinkles in it.  I sanded a good deal of it off

"Bond Street" by Burt Bacharach

The wheel bearing was clunking so I'm replacing it
I'm (Rachel) filling in my old (Scott's) blog using songs from my old "favorites" cassette tapes (see my posts on March 1st and July 15th).  This song is Side 2, Track 3 on my Best of All #11 cassette.

I'm writing this post on 12-Mar-2020.  Last week Sue and I thought we would take the Plymouth to pick up Mariah from school.  I started hearing this clunking noise while we were moving.  It kept getting louder and louder and by the time we got to 3500 S. it was making me nervous.  So I turned onto 900 West and drove home and got the Mazda.

This has always been a favorite.  The Live version is really fun!

"You Only Live Twice" by Nancy Sinatra

The Utah Pride Center moved to it's location on 300 E.in 2013, it moved to this location in 2018

Stopped by the Utah Pride Center on 25-Feb-2020 and got a Rock Camp SLC sticker
#UtahPrideCenter  https://www.utahpridecenter.org/
#RockCampSLC  http://www.rockcampslc.org/

I bought this sports car in January 2020 and it is definitely the kind of car Bond would drive... well with that license place if Bond was a girl ;)  This car is definitely bad ass, if you punch it in 1st it hits the red line of 9,000 RPM in like a couple of seconds!

Anyway, I'm (Rachel) filling in my old (Scott's) blog using songs from my old "favorites" cassette tapes (see my posts on March 1st and July 15th).  This tape has just been a nightmare!  See my post for 23-Aug-2018 and now it turns out this instrumental that is Side 1, Track 8 on my Best of All #11 cassette is not John Barry "You Only Live Twice" but actually "Fight At Kobe Dock - Helga".

So I'm going to post the Nancy Sinatra theme instead although it isn't on the tape.  I perceive that Nancy Sinatra is a Bad Ass and would drive a Mazda RX8.

"On Her Majesty's Service" by John Barry

Identified this song since the previous post
Shazam to the rescue, it was able to identify this instrumental.  This is the theme from the Bond movie of the same name.  It is the one that starred George Lazenby as James Bond.  It also had Diana Rigg (Mrs. Peel from the Avengers).  Totally one of the women I had a crush on when I was young.  So f'ing HOT!!!!

"All Mine" by Fanny

Final correction to this list, used Shazam to find out what this song was
I finally dug the cassette out of the garage, played it and used Shazam to find out what track #5 was.  I had no memory of Fanny.  Does sound a lot like Fleetwood Mac to me.  At least I got the title right.

I'm writing this post on 3-Feb-2019 and I have to explain that in 2018 I started singing karaoke and my go to band is The Doors.  I told my friend Talia Keys last week that I really want to start an all female Doors cover band.

This song is Track #7 and the last song on Side 1 of my "Best of All #10" cassette.  It was the B-side to "Break On Through".

"The Show Must Go On" by Three Dog Night

Rachel update 5-Feb-2019: added the photo above and  a note:

You just never know where life is going to take you!  In 2013 I had no idea that within a couple of years I would be happily living as a woman and furthermore I would be getting on stage and singing in front of people.

I estimate at this moment I have sang around 150 different songs on stage not counting repeat performances of the same songs.  Counting all the times on stage I estimate I've sang about 200 times at seven* different locations.  I would guess at least two or three hundred people, maybe more, have seen and heard me sing.

The reason I bring this up is that I had this song in the queue last night at the Sun Trapp and I was about to get on stage and sing it when the power went out at the Sun Trapp and the surrounding area.  Of course that put an end to the karaoke for that evening.  :(

Sun Trapp: http://suntrapp.com/Sun_Trapp/Welcome_to_The_Sun_Trapp.html

* that number doesn't include getting on stage at the Urban Lunge and singing with Talia Keys and The Femme.

"What a Life I've Led" by The Hollies

I had no idea it was even possible to be as happy as I am now!
I'm (Rachel) filling in my old blog using songs from my old "favorites" cassette tapes (see my posts on March 1st and July 1st).  This song is Track #4 on my "Best of All #10" cassette.

I was just listening to this song, for the first time in decades (BTW - I'm writing this post on 17-Jan-2019) and thinking how, at the least the title, is true for me.

All those decades I hated myself and always thought I was a bad man, I can look back and see I wasn't so bad and I've had a good life and now it is great!

I'm actually writing this post over 5 years in the future on 23-Aug-2018.  This morning I scanned in some of my notes from when I was listing the song on those old cassettes.

This is the one for "Best of All #10":
