"Your Town" by Deacon Blue

I don't know of any connection between this song and yesterday's song, but for some reason they remind me of each other.  Maybe it is just because both band names start with "D" and I think they both came out around the same time.

"Almost Cut My Hair" by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young

Me 10 years ago when SueZQ must've talked me into growing a goatee
Rachel  update 26-Dec-2018:  added photo above.  Can I just say how much I *HATE* facial hair, it drove me INSANE!!

I should also note that in 2018, I started doing karaoke and it has been so much fun and very healing!  I performed this song a few weeks ago at the Handle Bar.

Original Post:

This might be my favorite song from the Deja vu album, but it would be hard to really decide.

"Deja Vu" by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young

Well, hmm.  I was thinking of doing the entire album, because it's a great album, but I think I will just pick my favorites now.

"You Really Had Me Going" by Holly Dunn

Rachel Update 3-Oct-2018: the account for the video I had was "terminated due to multiple third-party notifications of copyright infringement".  I've added some new ones:

Original Post:

This is one of those songs that has a story associated with it.  I rode over to Wendover with my wonderful friends Rob & Connie.  (Would I have survived the 90's without them? ... it's uncertain.)  They were dancing and this song came on and it was love at first hearing.  I can't remeber how I found it when I got home, but this song has remained a favorite ever since.

"Chim Chim Cheree" by Ray Conniff and/or the Original Soundtrack

I've always loved this song, and I enjoy both the Ray Conniff version and the Original Soundtrack version with Dick Van Dyke, Julie Andrews, Karen Dotrice & Matthew Garber.

"The Best Man" by Gary Lewis and the Playboys

A non-hit from the "This Diamond Ring" album, but a favorite of mine.  I believe this is the first album that I ever bought with my own money.  I still remember buying it at Wangsgards on 2nd Street in Ogden.  We often drove to Wangsgards for Sunday dinner at their lunch counter.  And I tested many tubes in their tube tester.

"Sax and Violins" by Talking Heads

SueZQ was watching Weeds this morning and when I walked in somebody said something that reminded me of a line in this song ("Mom and Pop...").  This is one of my favorite Talking Head songs so I thought I would post it today.  I always loved the line "If you're looking for trouble, that's what you will find".

"Maybelline" by Johnny Rivers

One of the early Johnny Rivers songs that was recorded live.  I still remember my Mom listening to this album at the house on 7th Street in Ogden.  Weird to think that was over a half a century ago.

"Look to Your Soul" by Johnny Rivers

This is a more recent Johnny Rivers discovery, I wasn't aware of this song until the 2-CD greatest hits set.  But it has become one of my favorites.

"Summer Rain" by Johnny Rivers

There are many songs that have a very vivid relation to a certain moment in my past, and whenevr I hear them I am reminded of that moment.  This song is one such song, it reminds me of riding down Weber Canyon with Grandpa Gus and stopping at a restaurant to have lunch.  I remember playing this song on the jukebox.  I always thought it was so cool that it mentions Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club band in the song.  I made so many trips down Weber Canyon with him, I can't remember if it was from a fishing trip to Henifer, Utah or a work trip to Rock Springs, Wyoming.  It seems like it was a trip home from Wyoming.

"Secret Agent Man" by Johnny Rivers

I loved the T.V. series Secret Agent Man (actually a British T.V. series titled Danger Man, see yesterday's post) and I've always loved the theme song from it.

"The Ubiquitous Mr. Lovegrove" by Dead Can Dance

I absolutely love this song.  We were watching a DVD of the 1960's Danger Man T.V. series (in the U.S. it aired under the name Secret Agent Man).  There was an episode of it with the same title as this song.  I have no idea if this is a coincidence or if somehow Dead Can Dance used the title from the T.V. series.  Oh, the DVD was damaged and "The Ubiquitous Mr. Lovegrove" episode would not play so we were unable to watch it.

"Do You Know What I Mean?" by Lee Michaels

I originally posted "Running On Empty" by Jackson Browne for today's post.  However I later discovered that was a duplication of my post for 30-Dec-2011.  So I copied my original post for today to the first post and replaced it with this song.

Loved the part of this video with the 55 Chevy.

"Please Explain" by Burt Bacharach

One last Burt Bacharach song, a follow up song to "What the World Needs Now is Love".   I think this song is very cool.  It is also cool that Tonio K helped out on this song.

"The Windows of the World" by Dionne Warwick

Photo with me (before transition) from 25-Sep-2010

Photo we took up Alpine Canyon 25-Sep-2010
Rachel update 5-Oct-2017: added photos above and a new release of "Windows of the World" by Burt Bacharach and Dionne Warwick.

So weird to think that those photos were taken only two months before my right side went numb from MS and begin a completely new phase of my life.

And I've been living as a woman long enough now, that it feels extremely weird to see me presenting male.

"Close to You" by Carpenters

I have to say that this song did get worn out, but I still remember playing the 45 over and over.  They look so young in this video...  but then I was young then too.

"A Future Left Behind" by Hugo Montenegro

Update 9-Oct-2015: Found out I had duplicated "Knowing When to Leave" so I've changed this entry to another song from that album.

Note: I can't find just that song on YouTube, I can only find an entire album that contains it.  Go to time code 13:30 to hear this song.

"Reach Out For Me" by Burt Bacharach

Another song that has a memory attached.  My friend Nick and I first heard this song at the Lafayette Electronics in Ogden (the old store that was on Washington Blvd.).  We often rode our bikes there after school, and I believe it was our friend Mike that worked there that played this album for us for the first time.
