This is the first track on side 2 of my "favorites" cassettes from the 1970's (see my posts from  March 1st and April 15).  Just a fun story song from the movie of the same name.

"1900 Yesterday" by Liz Damon's Orient Express

This is track #6 on side 1 of my "favorites" cassettes from the 1970's (see my posts from  March 1st and April 15).  I really enjoyed this album when it came out, I have both the record album and the cassette.  The cassette is one of the very early cassettes in the funny Ampex boxes, I have included a photo of the box, cassette, and a typed list of where the songs started from the counter on the cassette deck.  Those numbers really only worked on the cassette deck that they were taken from as, the counter in every cassette deck varied.

"It's Too Late" by Bobby Goldsboro

Rachel Update 23-Aug-2017: I scanned in some of the notes I took about what is on my old "Best of All" cassette tapes.  Here is the one for cassette #5:

Track #4 on side 1 of my "favorites" cassette #5 from the 1970's (see my posts from  March 1st and April 15), is "The Straight Life" by Bobby Goldsboro.  It is a good song, that I really like, but I couldn't decide if I wanted to post it for my song of the day.  So I thought I would skip it for now and do Track #4 that is also by Bobby Goldsboro that did jump out at me.

"Sign of the Times" by Petula Clark

A great song by Petula Clark starts off side 1 of cassette #5 of my favorites tapes from the mid-1970's (see my post from March 1st).  Cassette #4 is MIA, and after all these years I have no idea where it could be.  So until I find the binder with the track listings from all of the cassettes, what it contained will remain unknown.

"Come Together" by Frank Chacksfield

From my wonderful days working in the Standards Lab at Sperry Univac.  I bought the Frank Chacksfield "Beatles Songbook" album because my boss heard this song on the radio and really loved it.  I think this is a great instrumental version, I love the arrangement and especially the horns.

YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aHrv5FnVd4s

Speaking of Sperry Univac, I found the programmer manual for the first computer terminal I ever saw and used; the Uniscope 100.   It could display a whopping 64 characters by 16 lines, but we used it in the 80 characters by 12 lines mode.

"Working At The Car Wash Blues" by Jim Croce

This is track #1 on side 2 of my favorites cassette #3 (see my posts from March 1st and 16th).  I hadn't heard this song for years and it was so fun hearing it again.  "Instead I'm stuck here rubbing these fenders with a rag and walking home in soggy old shoes".

"Eight Miles High" by The Byrds

I'm going to back track a little, because yesterday's post reminded me of a song I skipped over last month.  I couldn't decide whether to post this song or not and laziness kicked in and I decided to leave it until later.

So this was track #4 on side 2 of my favorites cassette #2 (see my posts from March 1st and March 25th).

"Creeque Alley" by The Mamas and the Papas

This is track #9 on side one of my favorites cassette #3 (see my posts from March 1st and April 1st).  I've always thought this was a really fun (autobiographical) song and fun to hear the history.  Here is the wikipedia entry for the song: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creeque_Alley.  The video with the commentary is fun too, it has photos of the various groups and people mentioned in the song.

"24 Hours From Tulsa" by Dusty Springfield

Another great Bacharach/David song starts off side 1 of cassette #3 of my favorites tapes from the mid-1970's (see my post from March 1st).

I think the Gene Pitney version might have been the bigger hit, but I liked the Dusty Springfield version better.
