The interior of the 1960 T-bird, I so remember driving that car!!

Mine had a 352 engine too!  He wanted almost $18,000 WOW!!!

"Stay Awhile" by The Bells

This is the same model and year as my Thunderbird was
This is Rachel filling in my old Scott's blog, I'm writing this on 10-Mar-2020.  See yesterday's post for more about how this song came about.  I'm a lesbian and when I'm performing songs I modify the lyrics from a lesbian perspective.  I was just pondering how this song would be.  You would just have to have two females and change the pronouns, it would be cool.

SueZQ and I were up in Evanston, Wyoming 6 years ago a I saw this car for sale.  It is the same model and year as the Thunderbird I used to own.

"One Toke Over the Line" by Brewer & Shipley

70's Smash Hits cassette
This is Rachel filling in my old Scott's blog, I'm writing this on 10-Mar-2020.  We bought SueZQ a truck on Sunday and the stereo in it plays cassettes instead of CD's.  So I dug out a few old cassettes from a box in the garage and we've been listening to them.  The cassette shown above is one we listened to.

I've been meaning to post this song to my blog for a long time, so this is the push I needed.

I think maybe I'll go smoke some weed after this, it's sort of legal in Utah now although our state legislature fucked with it so it's messed up.  I just heard this week (again in March 2020) that the first dispensery opened.

"Everything's Coming Our Way" by Santana

I painted the red stripe on International Women's Day 2020
I'm writing this post on 10-Mar-2020, I've been working on painting my Plymouth with various pride flags.  I'm going to paint the Philly Pride flag on the hood.

I'm (Rachel) filling in my old (Scott's) blog using songs from my old "favorites" cassette tapes (see my posts on March 1st and June 2).  This song is Side 2, Track 6 on my Best of All #9 cassette.  I had forgotten this came from the Santana III album.

"My Wife" by The Who

I finished painting the "Lesbian Pride" flag on the roof of the Plymouth

I don't like it, the pink stripe is too close in color to the magenta stripe
I'm writing this post on 9-Mar-2020, I've been working on painting my Plymouth with various pride flags.  I finished the Lesbian Pride flag on the roof a couple of days ago, but I don't like it.  The Pink stripe (2nd from the left) is too close in color to the Magenta stripe on the right.  I think I'm going to paint over the Pink stripe with a light orange or peach color.  I couldn't find really the right shades for all the colors anyway.  That will be my version of a Lesbian flag.

I'm (Rachel) filling in my old (Scott's) blog using songs from my old "favorites" cassette tapes (see my posts on March 1st and June 2).  This song is Side 2, Track 5 on my Best of All #9 cassette.

Note: this post is my 1,000th post in my Scott's blog.  Added to the 1,263 published posts in my Rachel's blog that is 2,263 songs / blog posts as of 10-Mar-2020.

"Paint It Black" by The Rolling Stones

Found this magazine in the garage today (8-Mar-2020)
I'm (Rachel) filling in my old (Scott's) blog using songs from my old "favorites" cassette tapes (see my posts on March 1st and June 2).  This song is Side 2, Track 4 on my Best of All #9 cassette.

I had an intersection with "Paint it Black" in my former career.  After I quit ???? in Virginia in 2001 and moved back to Salt Lake City, I started working at Incognito Entertainment on "Twisted Metal Small Brawl" and after that "Twisted Metal: Black Online".

As you may  know The Rolling Stones "Paint It Black" was used in "Twisted Metal Black" as the Theme Song if you will.  Rumor was that Sony paid a huge amount of money to use it.  I don't remember exactly but I think it was over a million dollars.

"The World is a Ghetto" by War

I'm (Rachel) filling in my old (Scott's) blog using songs from my old "favorites" cassette tapes (see my posts on March 1st and June 2).  This song is Side 2, Track 1 on my Best of All #9 cassette.

Side 1,Track 5 on my Best of All #9 cassette is "Fresh Air" by Quicksilver Messenger Service, which I posted in my Rachel blog on 10-Feb-2016

This is such a great song, I can't believe I haven't posted it before (I'm writing this on 29-Feb-2020 - Leap Day).  Actually I thought I had posted it, I was surprised when I didn't find it.

Note: the single version is just under 4 minutes and the album version is over 10 minutes.

"Rawhide" by Frankie Laine

OMG I had forgotten about this song.  This has to be his most famous song or at least one that was somewhat epic in that it has the phrase "keep them doggies rolling" which I still hear and say today.

It is so funny to see how young Clint Eastwood looks in the shots from the TV show.

"Mule Train" by Frankie Laine and the Muleskinners

I've had this song stuck in my head ever since I played this album yesterday.  This was the theme song for a Borax TV commercial I remember seeing with my grandpa.

I love the TV clip where he is fooling around with the whip.  It is TOO funny!  "I've been waiting 6 weeks to get even with camera 3, get ready." (at time 0:40).

I also notice the "KKOK" on the back which makes me suspect this was used at a radio station at some point in the past.  I did an Internet search and found this station in Minnesota:

Funny that this record migrated west to Utah  :)

"That Lucky Old Sun (Just Rolls Around Heaven All Day) by Frankie Laine

I remember I bought a reissue 45 RPM single of "That Lucky Old Sun" in like the 70's and I so loved it.  I played it a lot.

It was funny that when I was searching for it on YouTube this song didn't even show up in the suggestions list.  It was the song on the record shown on the front of the "Golden Hits" album cover and is the first track on the album.

So weird to think this song was a hit in 1949, 64 years ago.  There was also a 1957 re-recording on YouTube.  I don't remember the 1957 recording at all, but it is interesting.  A little more stylized and emotional?

"Six Days on the Road" by Dave Dudley

I came across a Hank Thompson double album titled "A Six Pack to Go" in a pile of records I had sitting here.  It was a double album, but Disc 1 is missing.  It was the disc with his big hits on it.

Disc 2 has several cover versions including "Six Days on the Road".  This is the original version.  This song was on an old 8-Track tape I had and it was one of my favorite 8-Track tapes.

The line about "There's a flame from her stack and that smokes a blowin' black as coal" is really disturbing!!

"Thanks a Lot" by Brenda Lee

Scribbled track listing for the Shamrock tape
First, please note that I'm writing this post on 3-March-2020 as Rachel.  I'm filling in my old Scott's blog with music I found on old reel-to-reel and cassette tapes.  See my posts from 2-Feb-2020 and 8-Jun-2013.  This is another song from 1965.  I'm pretty sure, from all the songs on this tape that were from '64 and '65, I recorded this tape in 1965.

It's funny I totally thought this was a male vocal, I was surprised when Shazam popped up that it was by Brenda Lee.  Even listening to the LiveTV video below, it sounded like a male vocal, a lot like Wayne Newton.  Of course Wayne Newton is a high male vocal.

"El Pussy Cat" by Mongo Santamaria

The box this reel tape is stored in

First, please note that I'm writing this post on 3-March-2020 as Rachel.  I'm filling in my old Scott's blog with music I found on old reel-to-reel and cassette tapes.  See my posts from 2-Feb-2020 and 8-Jun-2013.  This is another song from 1964.  I'm pretty sure, from all the songs on this tape that were from '64 and '65, I recorded this tape in 1965.

I should note something funny I noticed when I was taking the photo of the box above.  At some point the back fell off from wear or was accidentally torn off and I taped it back on.  And I noticed I taped it on upside down.

Such an odd song (?)!  I hope the cats weren't harmed in some way recording the "vocals"!

"Everybody Loves Somebody" by Dean Martin

Trying to make a track listing of this old reel-to-reel tape
Here I'm writing this almost 7 years later (1-Mar-2020), come to think of it, it is exactly 7 years from the day I first started posting songs from my old cassettes on 1-Mar-2013.  See the blog post from that day.  It's like 3 A.M. and I'm often all sorts of freaky at 3 A.M.

I'm sitting here wondering why in the hell I left a one week gap in the blog posts from the cassettes.  As I'm writing this there are no posts between 7-Jun-2013 and 15-Jun-2013.  I don't want to make the blog posts from the cassettes out of order.  So I have been trying to make a track listing of this reel tape on my deck in 2020.  I'm a thinin' I'll maybe post some songs from it to fill this in...

"Take Me to Your Heart" by Monkey Meeks

My 45 RPM single - 66 cents at K-Mart

I'm (Rachel) filling in my old blog using songs from my old "favorites" cassette tapes (see my posts on March 1st and June 2).  This is track 4 on side 1.

This one was a real bitch to figure out!  For the life of me I couldn't remember who the artist was.  I searched on YouTube and did many Google searches.

It seems there is a more recent song with the same name, that was so popular a lot of other people covered it.  There is also a different song by Rick Astley with the same name.

I also looked through lists of one-hit-wonders from the 70's (since there are several songs on the cassette from 1976 and before).

I finally sent an MP3 I made from the cassette tape and sent it to my nephew (Brad Jr.) and he found it right off the bat.  He said he must have got lucky, I'll say!  Anyway, many thanks to him!!

And it's cool that this song was also released in 1973, so it fits right in with my "theme" for the last couple of days...

"Dream On" by Aerosmith

It was 40 years ago today that I started working at Sperry-Univac.

"Right Place Wrong Time" by Dr. John

I'm (Rachel) filling in my old blog using songs from my old "favorites" cassette tapes (see my posts on March 1st and May 20th).

Funny, I'm actually writing this post exactly 4 years in the future on 1-June-2017.  I'm trying to get my car ready for the Pride Parade and Festival:

May 30th, 2017 at Dr. Luikenaar's office

The 8th song on the cassette was a song just called "No".  I don't remember who did it and I'm not feeling it, therefore I'm not going to waste time searching for it.

The 9th song on Side B of my "Favorites" cassette #7 is this one.  At first I thought it was by Billy Preston, but my memory is certainly not what it used to be.

The "Live 2012" version at the Guitar Center is very cool...

Note: the 10th song on my favorites cassette #7 was "A Fifth of Beethoven" by Walter Murphy, I'm not sure what I want to do with it right now.  I should post more of my favorite classical music...  but I'm not sure how I want to do that...
