"The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" by Hugo Montenegro

Track #10 and the last track on side 2 of my favorites cassette #2 (see my posts from March 1stMarch 16th and March 25th) is, without a doubt, one of the most famous movie theme songs of all time.

"Heaven Only Moved Once Yesterday" by The Guess Who

Track #8 on side 2 of my favorites cassette #2 (see my posts from March 1st and March 25th) is this song by The Guess Who from the "Rockin'" album.  Actually the cassette contains parts B and C of a track called "Hi Rockers!" of which part A was a spoken dialog.

"Heart of the Sunrise" by Yes

Rachel update 2-May-2017: I originally titled this post "Fragile (album) by Yes".  I've decided to change it to just the song so this is true to the cassette.  Plus I decided last year (2016), making a post about the entire album wasn't a great idea.

Track #6 on side 2 of my favorites cassette #2 (see my posts from March 1st and March 25th) is "Heart of the Sunrise" by Yes from the "Fragile" album.  Once again I decided I should post the entire album, instead of just that song.  This album sticks in my mind as an album that I was extremely anxious to get, from the first time I heard "Roundabout" on the radio.  I remember going to the record store every week to see if they had gotten it in yet.  Listening to it again still gives me chills.

"4 + 20" by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young

While listening to the album I posted yesterday I discovered another great song from the CSN&Y's "Deja Vu" album that I have to count among my all-time favorite songs.

Note: this song is not on my favorites cassettes that I have been posting songs from this month.

"Country Girl" by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young

Track #2 on side 2 of my favorites cassette #2 (see my posts from March 1st and yesterday). is "Country Girl" by CSN&Y from the "Deja Vu" album.  I decided I should post the entire album, instead of just that song.  I've already posted three songs from the album, back on May 27th28th, and 29th.

"Lost In a Lost World" by Moody Blues

Track #1 on side 2 of my favorites cassette #2 (see my posts from March 1st and 16th). is "A Simple Man" by Lobo.  I have decided from now on I am only posting the songs from these cassettes that really "popped" for me.  Later I will come back and see if I missed any songs that were really significant.

This song immediately jumped out at me and it is unfortunately still relevant today.

"Changling" by Alison Moyet

I wasn't planning to post any more songs for 2013 until I had filled in more of 2012, but this song just came out in February so it didn't seem right to post it in 2012.  Since I downloaded this song I've listened to it dozens of times and just love it.  I tried to play it in my show on KCQN Utah on March 10th, but that was the night KCQN was off the air.  So I'm playing it in my show tonight.

"Mr. Businessman" by Ray Stevens

Track #10 on side 1 of my favorites cassette #2 is "Who Will Buy" by Oliver, which I posted on 11-Dec-2012 (see my posts from March 1st and 16th).

Track #11 is this track, which I think is still pretty relevant today: http://wearethe99percent.us/

YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9897_pHy3mo

Track #12, and the last song on side one, is "Just Like a Woman" by Bob Dylan.  But I can't decide if I want to post it on this list.  It's a good song but I don't know...

"Mr. Richland's Favorite Song" by Nilsson

Rachel update 8-Jul-2017: sometimes my dead self annoys me.  The posting an album instead of a song drives me crazy now.  They are a pain in the ass to fix.  I don't have time for this shit!!

"Aerial Pandemonium Ballet" (Album) by Nilsson
Track #8 on side 1 of my favorites cassette #2 is "Long Ago Tomorrow" by B. J. Thomas, which I posted on 11-May-2012 (see my posts from March 1st and 16th).

Track #9 on side 1 of my favorites cassette #2 is "Mr. Richland's Favorite Song" by Nilsson, specifically the version from the "Aerial Pandemonium Ballet" album.  Again I think I will post that entire album.

It is an interesting album because it consisted of tracks from two of Nilsson's previous albums "Pandemonium Shadow Show" and "Aerial Ballet", but the tracks were modified from the original albums.  For example "Mr. Richland's Favorite Song" had new background vocals and was remixed.  Some of the songs, like "1941" were slowed down.

I could not find a video of that album on YouTube, all I could find was a list of the tracks from the album.  And since it appears most or all of the tracks came from the original albums you won't hear them as they are on the "Aerial Pandemonium Ballet" album.

"Harvest" (Album) by Neil Young

Track #5 on side 1 of my favorites cassette #2 is Harvest by Neil Young (see my posts from March 1st and 16th).  I think, however, I will post the entire album.  It is one of my favorite albums of all time.

"I've Seen That Movie Too" by Elton John

Track 2 from my favorites cassette #2 (see my post from yesterday) is "Nothing Rhymed" by Gilbert O' Sullivan, which I posted on 7-Dec-2011.

Track 3 is "Harmony" by Elton John which is a great song, but I think this song is more of a favorite of mine, it is track 4 on cassette #2.

"Girl With No Eyes" by It's A Beautiful Day

I posted this song as part of the album back on 31-July-2011.  I've decided to post it as a separate song because is track 11 and the last track on my "favorites" cassette from the mid-seventies (see my post from March 1st).  I have many, many more to go.  I've included a photo of box 1 of the cassettes below (unfortunately tape #4 is missing).

"You" by Three Dog Night

Track 8 from side 2 of my first favorites cassette (see my post from March 1st) is "Knife Edge" by Emerson, Lake and Palmer which I posted on 3-Sep-2011.

Track 9 is "Evil Ways" by Santana which I posted on Halloween of last year.

This is track 10 and for the life of me I couldn't remember who the artist or title of what it was.  I have a book with the track listings for all of the cassettes, but I can't find it, so I had to do a Google search to figure out what song this was.

"Fire" by The Crazy World of Arthur Brown

Track 4 from side 2 of my first favorites cassette (see my post from March 1st) is "25 or 6 to 4" by Chicago which I posted on 13-Dec-2011.

Track 5 is "Vehicle" by The Ides of March which I posted on 5-Oct-2011.

Track 6 is "Nothing to Hide" by Spirit which I posted on 1-Feb-2013

So this is track 7, a classic one hit wonder.

"MacArthur Park" by Richard Harris

Track 2 from my first favorites cassette (see my post from March 1st) is "Another Song" by the Carpenters which I posted on November 21st of last year.  So this is track 3 from side 2 of the cassette.  This was one of those songs that was huge when it first came out, but then it disappeared.  I don't think I have heard it on the radio since.  Rock on Dumbledore!

Track 10 from my first "favorites" cassette made in the mid 1970's (see my post from March 1st) is one of the cuts from Jethro Tull's "Thick as a Brick" album.  I was hesitant whether to post it here, but what the hell, it was fun hearing the cut.

"Poem For the People" by Chicago

"2000 Light Years From Home" by The Rolling Stones

I have a weird situation here, because I am filling in 2013.  I am actually creating this post on 4-Oct-2014.  I am posting songs from my first "favorites" cassette made in the mid 1970's (see my post from March 1st).

So track 6 on the cassette is "The Battle" by Blood, Sweat and Tears, which I just posted as my song of the day yesterday (3-Oct-2014).  Now that I think about it that is a pretty funny coincidence, that it would show up on this tape the day after I posted it in real-time.

So this Rolling Stones track is track 7 on the cassette.  I always thought it had a much more psychedelic sound than most of their music.

"So Deep Within You" by Moody Blues

It's crazy that I haven't posted any Moody Blues songs before this.  I was listening to their early albums a couple of months ago and there are many of my favorites on them.

This is track 5 from my first "favorites" cassette made in the mid 1970's (see my post from March 1st).

This song is from the "On the Threshold of a Dream" album, which I discovered while helping the cheerleaders practice.  It was one of those "wow this is so cool" moments.  That album has remained my favorite over the years.

"Old Man" by Lighthouse

Rachel update 4-Jul-2017:

I'm still working on posting songs from my old cassettes and I was looking at this post.  I had to laugh about my comment that I was now an "old man".  Ha ha ha ha!  At that time I was on the path to discovering that I am a woman but I was still figuring it all out...  So anyway, now in reality, I am an old woman :)

Original Post:

A few months ago I found the boxes of my old cassettes and it has been so fun listening to them.  (Note: this post is being created on 28-Sep-2014.  Yes, I am very far behind.  I also posted a few songs from the cassettes starting on 8-Jul-2014.)

Last week I started listening to them in order starting with Vol. 1 and now I've decided to do something different with this blog and post songs from my original "favorites" list that started in the early to mid 1970's, approximately 40 years ago.

I have added a picture of the very first cassette below.  If I remember correctly those Scotch C-90 tapes came in a plastic pack of 4 or 5 with no cases.  So I bought empty cases for them at Gibson's in Ogden.

It is so cool to see the old Gibson's sticker.  Gibsons was originally on 36th Street just west of Washington Blvd. in Ogden.  I guess that by the time cassettes were the preferred recording medium Gibson's had moved to their new store on about 38th and Washington Blvd.

Anyway, it is interesting that I started my favorite songs (about 140 cassettes in all) with this song.  I must have really liked it! :)

And now I guess I am an "old man" myself, but it is good!
